Mason Builders is actively seeking an experienced Staff Accountant to join our expanding organization. The ideal candidate will have at least 2 years of accounting experience with an emphasis in commercial construction. This individual will be ultimately responsible for the day-to-day accounting in a growing construction office and jobsite-related accounting activities as defined below. They will work closely with various organization professionals and project management to ensure timely and accurate reporting, payments, billing and administration. Responsibilities will include but may not be limited to the following:

General Company Accountant Responsibilities

• Reconciles the company’s bank accounts to bank monthly statements
• Receives, processes, and pays invoices for accounts payable
• Prepares invoices and records payments for accounts receivable
• Processes company payroll through a third-party service provider
• Reconciles balance sheet accounts to detail ledgers
• Assists in month end and year end closing
• Manages financial and accounting software used by the company

Construction Project Accountant Responsibilities

• Performs accounting duties throughout the project, such as preparing invoices, project pay applications using AIAG702 format and payments to subcontractors. Makes sure all project related AP invoices are properly coded to the correct project
• Manages preliminary notice filings for clients and lenders
• Manages the conditional and unconditional lien waivers process for subcontractors and suppliers
• Prepares job cost reports for each project
• Reconciles job cost reports at the project level to the general ledger
• Assists in preparing workpapers and schedules for outside auditors
• Develops and maintains strong relationships with vendors and suppliers
• Keep up-to-date with construction industry trends and accounting rules and regulations

Staff Accountant Qualifications

Mason Builders is looking for a flexible, detail-oriented team player with the ability to manage multiple tasks, produce quality work, and consistently meet deadlines. The successful candidate will possess:

• A bachelor's degree in accounting
• A minimum of 2 years’ experience in private or public accounting
• Prior experience within the construction industry including knowledge of construction job cost accounting and related construction activities such as preliminary notice filings and conditional and unconditional lien waivers
• Proficiency in Microsoft Excel
• Solid analytical and mathematical skills
• Meticulous attention to detail and a high level of accuracy
• Effective communication and interpersonal skills
• Ability to manage multiple projects and tasks with competing deadlines
• Working knowledge of Viewpoints Spectrum software is desirable

Job Type: Full-time

Pay: $75,000.00 - $85,000.00 per year
