Job Description:

As a Bioinformatics Engineer at Signature, you will be part of a cross-functional team that’s main goal is to detect early-stage disease via non-invasive testing. As a member of the analytics team, you will help provide maintainable and well-tested tooling for the rest of the team to support future projects. The ideal candidate will have strong knowledge of existing bioinformatics algorithms for handling genetics data. This position will report to the Chief Technology Officer and Chief Analytic Officer.

Roles:

• Develop new bioinformatics approaches for analysis of large-scale NGS (DNA, RNA, or epigenetic) datasets and application development in a research environment.
• Collaborate and coordinate activities with multiple internal teams including software, clinical, operations, research, and product development.
• End-to-end analysis that includes design, data gathering, processing, analysis, iteration with stakeholders, and presentation of results.
• Gather requirements, design high-level workflows, anticipate business needs, and estimate timelines for bioinformatics projects.
• Mentor junior members on the software development team on best practices in software development.
• Adhere to standard operating procedures and work in a manner compliant with regulatory standards.
• Manage and contribute to the development of software for new implementation.
• Interact cross-functionally with other teams including analytic, clinical, operations, research, product development, and external collaborators.
• Establish or enhance Standard Operating Procedures in order to maximize efficiency.
• Performs other duties as assigned.

Job Requirements:

• BS/MS/PhD in a quantitative scientific field (computer science, engineering, mathematics, statistics, bioinformatics, etc.).
• 2+ years of industry experience.
• Experience with Python
• Comfortable using Pandas, NumPy, Sci-kit, and other scientific computing packages from the python ecosystem
• Experience working with SQL Database
• Experience developing in a cloud environment (AWS, GCP, Azure)
• Experience creating visualizations of data for colleagues of varying levels of domain knowledge.
• Experience implementing machine learning and statistical modeling algorithms Basic understanding of statistics and linear algebra.
• Ability to effectively visualize and communicate data insights to with tools such as Tableau or PowerBI or packages such as ggplot, matplotlib, etc.
• Experience with a systems programming language (C, C++, Rust)
• Experience with Next-generation Sequencing Data
• Experience creating ETL pipelines.
• Experience with Docker or other containerization software
• Excellent interpersonal communication (written and verbal) and organizational skills.
• A team player mentality with a demonstrated track record of success in a cross-functional team environment.
• Able to effectively communicate complex ideas to fellow employees of varying domain knowledge.
• Consistent commitment to delivering on team goals with a sense of shared urgency.
• Understanding of bioinformatics, genomics, and genomics sequencing technologies is a plus.
• Ability to keep up in a fast-paced environment.

Pay:

• $70,000-$90,000 Per Year
