The Business Development Manager (BDM) is responsible for the cultivation of new business opportunities for KMC, developed from new programs with current and new customers. Their primary objective is to establish collaborative opportunities with the Engineering and Supply Chain teams of their assigned accounts. In addition, the BDM is responsible for sustaining existing revenue streams by ensuring KMC’s preferred status on active parts and programs, through their end-of-life and into subsequent designs. The BDM will create account strategies with the support of the Director of Business Development that will define the path to profitable growth with key customers and prospects. The BDM is a customer advocate within KMC and will represent KMC in the market with integrity and professionalism.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

· Identify opportunities for new business within existing and prospective assigned accounts.
· Ensure that new opportunities fit KMC’s business model.
· Help establish strategic, cross-functional relationships between key customer contacts and their KMC counterparts in support of outstanding customer service.
· Establish technical seminars with customers to create collaboration and prototype opportunities.
· Facilitate KMC’s quoting process through strategic positioning with the customer and presentation of complete and accurate data to KMC’s Quoting Engineering team.
· Review customer prints & models to validate a likely technical fit based on knowledge of KMC’s manufacturing capabilities.
· Support KMC’s planning and forecasting activities.
· Travel regularly to customer sites to review new programs and general customer relations in order to secure future business.
· Provide support to KMC’s Project Engineering team through the product launch process.
· Working with the Director of Business Development and Business Development Associates, ensure the successful execution of pricing and margin plans established in the account strategy.
· Work directly with customers discussing KMC design and manufacturing capabilities and products.
· In collaboration with the Business Development Associate, plan and host customer visits to KMC.
· Other duties as assigned or required in support of assigned customer relationships.
QUALIFICATIONS:
To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty at a high level. The requirements listed below are representative of the knowledge, skill and abilities required.
· Bachelor Degree in Sales, Business, Engineering or related field from a four-year college or university plus a minimum of 5 years of experience in technical sales; or equivalent combination of education and experience.
· Proven performance in managing and developing relationships through an extended selling cycle.
· A successful history of profitable growth, selling complex solutions to OEMs.
· Proven oral and written communication skills.
· Strong organizational and planning skills.
· Ability to engage in technical and commercial discussions at a high level.
· Ability to work with resources to bring resolution to difficult or emotional customer situations.
· Ability to work in a fast-paced work environment and contribute to a team-first culture.
· Functional knowledge of Word, Excel and PowerPoint.
· Must be able to travel approximately 40-60% of the time, including customer and KMC HQ visits.
