We are currently looking for a Business Systems Advisor to provide the business administration and oversight/ownership of system tools, applications, and data on behalf of the business area (primarily in the domain of Environment, Health & Safety training and communications). You will coordinate the applications and tools used to support our safety & environment training and communications programs. In this role you will lead select team projects (e.g., championing and implementing new tools) and improvement initiatives as well as contribute to broader safety programs, processes, procedures, and initiatives improving safety culture.

What you will do:
  • Lead all aspects of and coordinate the software applications and tools used to deliver our enterprise-wide safety and environment training and communications programs (e.g., learning management system (LMS), vendor training portals, SharePoint tools/repositories, automated processes, custom applications, Power BI reports).
  • Collect and enter information/records into the learning management system (and other tools) by manual or batch processes (e.g., assigning/dropping courses, crafting offerings, and granting completion credit).
  • Perform data analysis and transformation (often in Excel) with ongoing data management for records contained within the systems (e.g., LMS data corrections, training course changes)
  • Prepare customized ad-hoc and scheduled reports and validates report data (e.g., for audit requests)
  • Provide day to day customer support and services to internal end users; provide training, answer questions, resolve issues, etc. via chat, email, phone, or online meetings.
  • Develop and deliver tool and application training to stakeholders. Create and maintain job aids/reference guides, and work instructions.
  • Serve as a subject matter expert and advisor on system functionality and business requirements and processes; advocating for and representing business needs and issues with technical support teams, vendors, the Service Desk, and others.
Who you are:
  • You have a University degree or diploma in computer science, business administration, information systems or a related discipline (an equivalent mix of education and experience will be considered)
  • You have 4 or more years of directly related experience preferably in Safety and/or Environment
  • You are experienced in the business admiration side of software applications such as learning management systems, custom apps, SharePoint
  • You have the skills for understanding and mastering the workings of complex applications/systems with a proficiency in learning management systems (e.g. Workday Learning)
  • You have advanced skills in Excel, Power Query, etc. used for data analysis and data transformation
  • You are experienced in business analysis, including client interaction, process design, requirements management, functional design and testing
Working Conditions:
  • Office environment with occasional travel (~5-10%) to other locations within Canada and United States

Physical Requirements (Office) include but are not limited to:

Mental Requirements (Both Field & Office) include but are not limited to:
Ability to: understand, remember and apply oral and/or written instructions or other information, understand complex problems and collaborate/explore alternative solutions, organize thoughts and ideas into understandable terminology, organize and prioritize work schedule on a short-term basis, make decisions which have moderate impact on the immediate work unit and monitor impact outside this area, understand and follow basic instructions and guidelines, complete routine forms, compose letters, outlines, memoranda and basic reports and communicate with individuals via telephone.
