Overton Moore Properties is actively seeking a corporate controller to join our team. Our Company is privately-held, and has been a recognized leader in the real estate development industry for over fifty years. We pride ourselves on the longevity of our staff, and the team-oriented culture we’ve built. This hire is part of a succession plan, as our current controller will be retiring in early 2023.

Based in Torrance, Overton Moore Properties has developed over 30 million square feet of industrial product and currently has eight million square feet under management. We’re a highly entrepreneurial organization, well-capitalized and have a significant pipeline of development projects.

Supervisory Responsibilities:

• Oversee the operations of the accounting department, which includes accounts receivable, accounts payable and cash management functions
• Review the financial reporting work prepared by the accounting staff for accuracy
• Oversee all accounting department personnel issues
• Act as the administrator for the various accounting software platforms we utilize

Duties and Responsibilities:

• Collaborate with CFO on the planning and coordination of all company accounting functions
• Perform full cycle accounting for our operating company
• For development projects, complete the monthly reporting and construction draw processes to ensure accurate and timely submittal to our joint venture partners and lenders
• Work with outside accountants for the annual audits and preparation of tax returns
• Assist with the completion of the company’s annual operating budget
• Ensure that best practices controls are in place
• Maintain a clear and organized filing system
• Monitor bank account activity; liaise with banks to manage new account openings

Required Skills:

• Clear and effective verbal and written communication skills, ability to articulate ideas
• Confidence to interface regularly with a variety of outside stakeholders, including capital partners and lenders
• Tech-savvy, with an advanced knowledge of accounting and reporting software (Yardi, MRI, Sage)
• Strong analytical skills which allow for the thoughtful evaluation of information, not just its aggregation
• Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite

Education and Experience:

• Bachelor’s degree in Accounting or Business Administration preferred
• Five years or more of real estate accounting required
• Experience working with institutional capital partners a plus

Job Type: Full-time

Pay: $125,000.00 - $150,000.00 per year
