Job Summary:
Controls Engineer for ArcPath Projects and client contract work. Develop new vision system logic for new equipment and or integrate into existing hardware. Review and improve client existing logic and systems for continuous improvement activities. Work directly on company R&D projects which include new machine builds, AI vision systems, robotics, and numerous industry 4.0 technology builds.
Responsibilities:
- Develop system logic for brand new equipment (Panel Hardware, HMI, Ladder Logic).
- Assist in R&D development of company technology.
- Work with ArcPath Robotics and Process Engineers on company projects.
- Execute project objectives under the direction of Project Management and Senior Controls Engineer.
- Complete company scope of work at client sites and within office.
- Assist and conduct engineering continuous improvement projects.
- Communicate with client engineering team and ArcPath contract team, regarding downtime, faults, and shift notes.
- As needed, update, change, and develop new system programs.
Required Skills:
- 2+ Years of experience with Siemens PLC (SIMATIC, Step7, HMI Builder).
- Proficient and skilled with TIA Portal software.
- Able to design safety control logic and assess dangerous system conditions.
- Vision system experience is a plus.
- Familiar with robotic pendent applications and industrial robots (Fanuc, ABB, KUKA).
- Able to read engineering prints (mechanical, electrical, pneumatic, and hydraulic).
- Proficient with communication protocols (Ethernet, Profibus, and ProfiNet).
- Excellent communication skills in a business/engineering context.
- Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, Powerpoint, Outlook…)
- Good time management and organizational skills.
- Able to conduct a technical troubleshooting process, with an electrical and controls context.
- Ambitious and enjoys learning about new technology
Required Education:
- Degree (Preferred): Technical certification from an accredited institution (OCC, M-Tec, MIAT, etc.) or an associates/bachelor’s in electrical/controls engineering with at least 2 years of experience in industry.
Physical Requirements
- Must be able to read, write, and lift 25 lbs as needed.
- Safely use a ladder.
- Able to operate a vehicle.
