PMSA Group is currently searching for a qualified Data Scientists for CONTINGENT positions in support of the United States Central Command (USCENTCOM) Resources and Analysis Directorate (CCJ8). The CCJ8 Analysis and Requirements division requires data scientists to effectively support a mixed contractor / government team with the mission to execute analysis of structured and unstructured data using the latest IoT, machine learning, and artificial intelligence technologies to inform strategic and operational decisions in the USCENTCOM area of responsibility.

Responsibilities:

Data scientists use their data and analytical ability to find and interpret rich data sources; manage large amounts of data despite hardware, software, and bandwidth constraints; merge data sources; ensure consistency of datasets; create visualizations to aid in understanding data; build mathematical models using the data; and present and communicate the data insights/findings. The candidate is expected to work by exploratory analysis and rapid iteration and to produce and present results. USCENTCOM analysis and requirements division is seeking a creative candidate who is also rigorous, precise, listens well, and asks good questions to provide direct database programming and data integration support for theater and operational assessments, campaign and combat operations analysis, wargaming, and decision analysis.

Major functions :

• Engage with directorate subject matter experts and partners to develop quantitatively defensible solutions to a wide range of complex problem sets relative to USCENTCOM operations
• Apply technical and analytical expertise to explore and examine data from multiple disparate sources
• Apply broad domain expertise to understand data origins and context
• Consult on the design of inquiries that can provide knowldege by discovering patterns and previously hidden insights
• Ensure data consistency, merge data sources together, and help others gain a better understanding of data
• Mathematical modeling of complex systems and business processes
• Application of advanced data analytics for structured / unstructured data
• Integrating algorithmic solution into computer programming languages to provide operational analytic product solutions
• Data management strategy development and prototyping

Required Qualifications and Experience

• Must have a DoD Top Secret (TS) clearance and be Sensitive Compartmented Information (SCI) eligible; also must have a current DoD approved Single Scope Background Investigation (SSBI) having at least one year of eligibility remaining before required renewal of their background investigation.
• Master’s Degree required, PhD preferred, from an accredited university in Statistics, Computer Science, Industrial Engineering, Logistics / Supply Chain Management, Operations Management, Operations Research, or similar degree and 7+ years’ experience as a software programmer.
• Demonstrated expertise in one or more of the following data science areas: algorithm development, machine learning, data architectures and integration (i.e. Hadoop ecosystem, cloud technologies), open source computer programming (i.e. R, Python), network optimization, simulation, stochastic processes, and/or systems analysis.
• 5+ years of experience with programming languages, including Python, C++, Java, or R
• 5+ years of experience working with structured, unstructured, or semi-structured data and conducting analysis
• Experieince with Advana
• Experience with data wrangling techniques to cleanse data for data science applications
• Experience with building statistical models and developing machine learning algorithms, including supervised, unsupervised, or reinforcement
• Experience with designing and executing machine learning models and applications
• Knowledge of the software development life cycle, testing, and version control

Additional Desired Qualifications and Experience

• Experience working in a Joint and/or Combatant Command
• Experience in the USCENTCOM area of responsibility
• Demonstrated ability to talk, discuss, and present with clarity, precision, and conciseness
• Experience with distributed programming languages, including SPark or scala
