Lloyd Central Compounding Pharmacy

Portland, OR

Job ID : 2f67505a53335a35783135377977324653673d3d

Job Description :

Tired of boring job ads? So are we!

Let's do this differently, because just like you are tired of reading boring job ads, we are tired of *writing* boring ads. How about we do a question and answer?

Important first question: What is this job?

1) This is a traditional customer facing job where you will be helping our walk in patients, talking to patients on the phone, handling our curbside pickup and working in our mail room.

2) We are a special kind of pharmacy that makes individualized medications for our patients. You will be trained to work as a clerk but also as a front technician in the future, and you will become an important member of our front technician team.

3) We will help you get licensed and become a pharmacy technician in the future, so that you can work in different stations in the front and advance in your career in the pharmacy profession, all without having to go to school!

4) At the pharmacy, we offer full time hours (40 hours/week), a consistent schedule from week to week so you have a great work/life balance, medical, dental and vision insurance, a 401(k) and paid flex time!

How do you encourage a positive culture at your company?
Our people are our most valuable asset! We spend a lot of time when hiring to make sure we find awesome people who care about working hard and doing a great job. This is important because we not only want you to be great, but we want to make sure everyone you work with is great too. At the end of the day, it doesn't matter how smart a person is, if they can't get along with other people and work as part of an awesome team, it is going to be a drag on everyone.

Another thing that helps is that we don't have much of a bureaucracy that you will have to fight against. The bureaucracy is just me (hi!).

What will you do in this role?

As a pharmacy clerk and part of our front staff, you are critical to the operation of our pharmacy. You will be helping all of our walk in patients as well as curbside patients, doing data entry of payment information for customers, helping with inventory and taking special orders, working in the mail room to process mail and deliveries, and talking to patients on the phone to let them know their orders are ready or verifying information about their order.

General cleaning of the retail area, office spaces and break room will also take up part of your job each day. These areas need to be swept and mopped, surfaces cleaned, all supplies restocked, and trash taken out. You will be a hero to everyone since keeping our spaces clean is of the utmost importance!

What are the advancement opportunities?

This job is a really great way to start a career as a pharmacy technician. If you have ever been curious about working in this industry or have wanted to change directions and try something new, this is a great opportunity for you. Over the past several years we have promoted lots of awesome clerks and have supported them with lots of training.

So you could go straight from being a clerk to being a pharmacy technician?
Yup! We do not require you to attend a school in order to be a tech, so going this route saves you like $15k+ in tuition, plus you are paid while you are being trained. You will need a technician license and a bunch of training, but we'll help you with that.

Is this a part-time or full-time position?
This is a full time position, 40 hours a week.

What kind of hours would you work?

Our store is open weekdays from 9am to 7pm, and Saturdays from 10am to 4pm (we are currently closed on Saturday due to COVID-19 and we do not have plans to open on Saturday). Our store is staffed from 7:00am-7:15pm. Your schedule will either be 8am-4:30pm or 10:30am-7:00pm. You will most likely rotate shifts from week to week.

As a technician your schedule will change and your shift may be a mid-day shift, generally beginning anywhere between 9:30am-10am and working until 6:00pm-6:30pm

What can you tell me about the company?
We are Lloyd Central Compounding Pharmacy. Hi! We are a specialty pharmacy that is family owned, and takes immense pride in helping our patients. Our pharmacy is not like any other pharmacy you've ever used. We are a compounding pharmacy that makes medications by hand. Our store is kind of more like a lab than a pharmacy.

Do you need to have any pharmacy experience?
Nope! We will teach you everything you need to know about pharmacy in order to be successful in the job.

This would be an excellent position for someone with experience as a barista, grocery store clerk, restaurant waiter or server, a cashier, or someone who enjoys being on their feet all day. If customer service is your wheelhouse this is a great position for you. This is also a great position for someone who is looking for a career change or for someone who is interested in learning about a new industry.

What safety measures have you implemented during COVID-19?

To help keep our employees safe during COVID-19 we have instituted the following procedures:

- >All employees must wear face masks during their shifts

- >We practice social distancing measures and have staggered breaks and lunches to ensure that everyone can safely eat and drink without their mask on

- >We clean all high-touch areas in the pharmacy 2 times a day

- >All employees have their temperature checked at the beginning of every shift

Do you offer benefits?
Yes! Full-time employees (32 hours/week or more) have access to health, dental, vision, flex time and 401(k)! All employees have access to employee discounts on prescriptions, over the counter items, supplements, and a variety of other things!

What are you looking for in an applicant?
We care about your potential more than your experience. We are looking for people who care deeply about doing a good job, work hard and are passionate about helping people and doing things the right way. If you can come to work, put your head down, and get the job done, then you might be the right fit for us! However, teamwork is crucial and it is important that you can communicate respectfully and in a positive way with your team. Going the extra mile is essential to all roles in the pharmacy.

Will I stand a lot?
Yes! There is lots of standing and moving stuff around for this job. If this is not something you enjoy doing, or if you don't like standing for most of the day, this is probably not the best fit for you.

Are there any details your lawyer is making you include that don't really fit the format of a question and answer job ad?

I'm glad you asked! Yes there are!

Physical demands in order to successfully perform essential job functions: must be able to stand for long periods of the day; must be able to lift up to 15 pounds regularly, and up to 50 pounds occasionally; must be able to use hands or arms to operate tools and equipment; must be able to kneel, crouch or use ladders on occasion.

The job responsibilities and requirements in this job ad aren't all-inclusive. You will be part of a responsive team and we appreciate your flexibility as we all work together to best serve our patients.

How do you apply?
First of all, thanks for reading! We really look forward to hearing from you. Please read the application instructions carefully, in order to ensure your application will be considered.

1) Send an email to the Indeed reply email address (click the "Apply Now" button at the top of the page)

2) Please include a cover letter and a resume. A cover letter is really important because it helps us understand you better as a person.

3) In your cover letter, please answer the following questions:

A) What made you apply for this position?

B) After reading more about the advancement opportunities, please describe your interest in becoming a pharmacy technician.

C) Tell us something fun about yourself that is not on your resume!

Thanks for looking and have a great day!
