Stewards in partnership with the National Park Service are seeking an intern who will be working directly with the South Park National Heritage Area (SPNHA) in Colorado. The SPNHA is a locally managed organization affiliated with the NPS, which focuses on community efforts and partnerships oriented around resource conservation, historic preservation, and economic development.

This intern will develop layouts, production designs and public information materials for various collaterals such as for advertisements, brochures, illustrations, fliers, and story boards. Key projects will include the update of the SPNHA graphic design brand identity and the design and layout of interpretive panels. The purpose of the signage will be to increase public awareness of the Chinese experience and history of Park County found within the heritage area.

Because of the rural environment of South Park National Heritage Area, this position is authorized to work from home for approximately 80% of the work week, any on-site work will take place in Fairplay, Colorado. Weekly meetings with the Executive Director will take place either in South Park or in the Denver Metro area. This person must be contactable via phone / internet during normal work hours. Intern must provide own transportation for travel to/from the heritage area but travel will be reimbursed.

Position Responsibilities will include:

  • Update the SPNHA graphic design brand identity;
  • Develop marketing templates to highlight SPNHA and related historic sites;
  • Creation of public information and communications materials that promote SPNHA programs and projects;
