EXL Health is looking for a Data Engineer Intern. This is a remote opportunity.
The Data Engineer Intern will be responsible for working with an experienced engineer to expand and optimize healthcare payer data, data pipeline architecture and data flow to enable analysis across several dimensions.

Role and Responsibilities:

• Maintain consistent and reliable data ingestion and pipeline operations.
• Monitor and validate health of ingestion and pipeline operations (24X7)
• Repair abnormal job execution and data corruption conditions.
• Report daily and intraday support readiness and workflow-health
• Automate jobs (ingestion & pipelines), notifications and reports.
• Support failures, data quality issues and environment health
• Maintain ingestion and pipeline runbooks, portfolio summary and DBAR.
• Enable infrastructure change, enhancements and update roadmap.

• Pursing a Bachelor’s degree in Engineering/Computer Science or related quantitative field
• Must have technical skills include:
• High Level coding skills such as SQL/PL-SQL, and scripting languages UNIX, Shell
• Experience with massively parallel processing systems like Spark or Hadoop
• Big data and Hadoop ecosystem (HDFS, Spark, Hive, ORC, HBase)
• Source code control systems (GIT) and CI/CD process (Jenkins/Team City/Octopus)
• Cloud computing with knowledge about configuration, environment, etc.
• Prefer some Involvement in the design, prototyping, and delivery of software solutions within the big data eco-system.
• Ability to perform code reviews to ensure that code meets acceptance criteria
• Prefer Experience with Agile development methodologies and tools to iterate quickly on product changes, developing user stories and working through backlog
• Nice to have technical skills include:
• Hands-on experience in back-end programming, particularly Java
• Exposure to GCP (certification, if any)
• AWS knowledge (S3/redshift/lambda/data pipeline)
• Experience in SNOW
