Job Description:

This role is responsible to supervise the day-to-day inventory control activities within assigned area(s) such as inventory counts, reporting, system maintenance, etc. Oversees and ensures compliance with the inventory processes, ensures accurate and timely reporting and inventory record maintenance, and coordinates production location assignments.

Schedule:This will be a first shift position with some weekends likely to be required.

Here’s what you’ll do:

  • Supervise the day-to-day inventory control activities within assigned area(s) such as inventory counts, reporting, system maintenance, etc. Work with cross-functional departments as necessary to coordinate inventory management activities and to ensure prompt and timely resolution of any issues.
  • Schedule and assign work to inventory control associates to complete workload in a timely and efficient manner while maintaining accuracy, excellent customer service and safe work environment; plan and schedule activities to control costs on labor and supplies. Maintain warehouse related reporting on related KPI’s.
  • Review inventory adjustments and research high cost/quantity impact adjustments, and investigate inventory discrepancies. Work with the Accounting department to research and resolve inventory variances accordingly.
  • Oversee and ensure compliance with the inventory processes (i.e., cycle/physical counts, code date checks, etc.) and ensure accurate and timely reporting and maintenance of inventory record; ensure timely responses to inquires and resolution of any issues (i.e., product condition, dates, quantities available, etc.)
  • Participate in the review of the warehouse layout (i.e., pick paths, racking configurations, reoccurring quantity/mis-pick issues, etc.) and review item slotting for effectiveness, proper execution and operational efficiencies; coordinate product location assignments (physical location and warehouse system maintenance).
  • Maintain and/or oversee the warehouse management system (WMS) and control tables (i.e., put-away strategy, slotting, etc.).
  • Oversee the accurate recording and product movement for salvage sales and return to vendor transactions and ensure product recoups efforts are completed in an accurate and timely manner.
  • Ensure compliance with SOX requirements and assist with SOX financial inventory audits as requested.
  • Provide oversight to audit activities (i.e., order selection, put-away, etc.
  • Develop and maintain an effective working relationship with customers, vendors and internal departments (i.e., distribution management, accounting, merchandising, procurement, customer service, etc.)
  • Ensure the health, safety, cleanliness and security of the work environment. Promote and reinforce safety and security awareness; report and/or address any issues or work-related injuries.
  • Ensure team lead is properly training associates; assist with training team on changes in processes and procedures.
  • Coordinate and lead pre-shift meetings and ensure timely communication with associates on various topics (i.e., distribution procedures, safety, human resources programs, etc.)
  • Responsible for department management including staffing, training, performance management and career development of associates, and developing and monitoring department goals.
  • May be responsible to assist with labor agreement administration, as necessary.
  • Additional responsibilities may be assigned as needed

Here’s what you’ll need:

  • Bachelor's or Associates in Supply Chain-related field (preferred) or equivalent relevant work experience.
  • Three plus years warehouse/distribution experience to include minimum one year of Inventory Control experience.
  • At least one year of supervisory/people leadership experience.
  • Good written and verbal communication skills.
  • Good organization, prioritization, problem-solving, decision-making, analytical and business acumen skills.
  • Must be able to multi-task and have good follow through to meet deadlines.
  • Must have good leadership and training skills; ability to work with all levels of management and line associates.
  • Ability to work flexible hours based on business needs.
  • Proficient in MS Office (Excel and Word).
  • Knowledge of warehouse management systems and database management tools (i.e., COGNOS, WMS/EXE, billing system, etc.) helpful.
