Job Description :

The Nurse Practitioner for this healthcare organization will be involved with the Division of Gynecologic Specialty Surgery in the Department of Obstetrics and Gynecology (OB/GYN). You would be working with minimally Invasive Gynecologic Surgery and Female Pelvic Medicine & Reconstructive Surgery (Urogynecology).

35 hours per week

About the Role:

  • You will work closely with the Urogynecology physicians in the Division of Gynecologic Specialty Surgery to provide high quality, comprehensive patient care
  • Perform urodynamic testing, pelvic floor therapy including counseling sessions, vaginal dilator training, biofeedback and estim.
  • Perform post-operative voiding trials, bladder instillations, and clean intermittent catheterization/catheter teaching
  • Perform pessary maintenance patient visits
  • Conduct pre-operative counseling and post-op visits in collaboration with individual Urogynecology physicians
  • Assist in office-based procedures, e.g., cystoscopy
  • Coordinates and manages lab tracking for the Urogynecology physicians by coordinating with the RN
  • Tracks abnormal lab results to confirm that patient has had appropriate follow-up as ordered by the physician in the patient's plan of care
  • Acts as a resource for patients requesting lab results and requisition
  • Triaging patient phone calls and making follow-up clinically related calls for pre and post-operative patients
  • Assist with guiding patients through the surgical process
  • See patients of the practice for evaluation and discussion of treatment options-new and follow up
  • Obtain outside medical records and images prior to initial consult
  • Coordinate perioperative planning
  • Determine need for medical clearance and ensure contact and documentation with appropriate providers
  • Review perioperative course with patients in advance of surgery including orientation to CUMC, scheduling procedures (urodynamics, cardiac testing, imaging, etc.), timing of surgery, anesthesia evaluation, preoperative lab testing and follow up, anticipated hospital course, prescription information
  • Telephone patients after discharge and coordinate the evaluation and management of the recovery period, including postoperative complications
  • Communicates effectively and professionally with patients, and members of the health care team about the patient's plan of care
  • Miscellaneous duties as assigned

Minimal Qualifications:

  • Requires a bachelor's degree or equivalent in education and experience, plus five years of related experience; Master's preferred
  • Must have current New York State NP and RN license and DEA and maintain and renew when necessary
  • Must be able to meet credentialing requirements
  • Must be willing to travel to our practice locations in NYC and Westchester
  • Eager to learn, master, and apply new skills, excellent organizational abilities and computer skills and excellent communication skills
  • Ability to be a team player in a busy environment

Preferred Qualifications:

  • OB/GYN experience
