Seeking Orthopedic Spine or Neurology Spine Physician's Assistant.

New Jersey Spine and Orthopedics has four Spine Surgeons specializing in Minimally invasive procedures. We specialize in artificial disc replacement (ADR) for the cervical spine as well as innovative lumbar spine procedures. We utilize some of the most minimally invasive spine procedures.

Our current need is for a Physician Assistant (PA) with operating room experience and is well acquainted in spine surgery and patient care. The candidate should be well versed in patient work up, reading MRI results and other diagnostics imaging germane to spinal and general orthopedics.

The candidate should be familiar with orthopedic and neurological evaluations as well as extremities. The candidate should know how to read MRI's, CT scans and imaging relevant to spinal care and orthopedic care.

The Physician Assistant will provide patient services under the direct supervision and responsibility of the designated supervising staff physician. You will be the first assist for the physician in surgical cases in a surgery center or hospital setting. The PA should effectively communicate with the doctors in the group about medical findings and patient treatment plans. They also should be able to assess and prioritize patient concerns and determine when a quick, prompt response is required in order to ensure patient safety.

The PA will work with a team of medical assistants to help make sure clinic days run smoothly. The candidate should be well spoken and be able to explain complicated medical information and treatment options to patients. Candidate should have strong multi-tasking abilities and organization skills.You will be responsible for evaluating patients in a clinic setting, obtaining patient past medical history, ordering appropriate imaging, and interpreting tests.

The PA should be able to communicate to the patient, loved ones and family members the diagnosis, procedure(s) and information in a way that the patient and family members are well informed and understand the diagnosis as well as procedure and post operative care. The PA will be expected to document involvement with patient care, promptly, accurately, and completely.

The PA is a very important part of our team and plays an integral role in insuring quality and compassionate healthcare while also displaying clinical and operative skills.

Summary of job duties: Charting, reviewing records, reviewing narratives, orthopedic examinations, first surgical assist, follow up phone call, pre operative and post operative care. Ordering medications and proper referrals for: physical therapy, pain management and other healthcare professionals. Reading MRI's, x-rays, CT scans, EMG (nerve conduction studies).

Travel is required. Our main office is in Bridgewater, NJ, however we have several satellite clinics in the northern New Jersey area that we also see patients at. We operate out of a surgery center in West Orange, NJ.

Master’s degree in Physician assistant studies required.

New Jersey License required, and New York license will be expected to be obtained after hiring.
