This position provides a strong technical food science expertise to develop new products, manage and optimize the current products, and drive innovation per the customer and business needs. The role is an integral part of the R&D department working directly with the customers, and internal cross functional teams to deliver a signature service and drive the highest customer satisfaction.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES-
Leads the product development process from concept to commercialization as per the business and customer needs.
Accurately identifies project requirements applying the right production capability, ingredients, and design to match customer needs and product specifications.
Formulate blends and flavors to match ingredient statements, nutritional profile, and sensory attributes of existing target products.
This function requires: creativity, innovative thinking, interpersonal effectiveness and a depth of technical food processing knowledge and the ability to collaborate with other professionals to achieve common goals.
Prepares lab samples for shipment and customer/sales review. Identifies any areas of product optimization through better raw material procurement, ingredient substitutions, and/or processing efficiencies.
Responsible for the development and maintenance of the products throughout the product lifecycle to include, maintaining a database for ingredients and formulations. Evaluates changes to ingredients and packaging as needed.
Works closely with production, quality, purchasing, and finance teams to ensure successful commercialization.
Documents the findings, maintains strong record keeping, and creates standard operating procedures as needed.
Must be a team player and a self-starter to drive initiatives within the R&D department striving for continuous improvement and excellence.
QUALIFICATIONS-

BS in Food Science Food Technology. Master's degree preferred.
7 years of experience in product development and commercialization with a preferred minimum of 3 years of experience developing entrees, soups, dressings, sauces or similar products.
Must have experience in utilizing a formula database like Genesis.
Familiarity with regulatory standards including GMP.
Experience working with chefs and culinary training techniques is a plus.
Must have an ability to adapt quickly to changing business needs.
Ability to read, analyze, and interpret common scientific and technical journals, and ingredient specification sheets.
Excellent collaboration skills and able to excel in a cross functional team environment.
Ability to communicate and interact effectively with various sales, marketing, and technical services personnel.
Must have computer and software skills and ability to learn new software programs as needed. Ability to recognize, analyze, and develop solutions and initiate problem-solving actions.
Proven formulation and production scale up experience.
