JOB SUMMARY:

Under the direct supervision of the Outpatient Clinical Manager of the Outpatient Services Department and the Cancer Center Manager, the RN will work with all members of the healthcare team to ensure excellence in the clinical practice of nursing and the delivery of patient care. The RN will perform all functions as outlined in the policy and procedure manuals of the Nursing Department. This includes, but is not limited to: providing leadership in the charge nurse capacity, directing patient care, making nursing / patient assignments, providing patient and family education, assist with patient admission assessments, assisting with covering the LVN's (per Title 22 regulations), with treatments and procedures, providing orientation of new employees (act as preceptor), participating in Quality Improvement projects and participating in the overall smooth running of the Outpatient Services Department.

QUALIFICATIONS:

1. Current RN license to practice in California.

2. Minimum of 1 years acute care experience within the past 5 years.

3. BSN or higher preferred.

4. One year recent experience in Outpatient Services.

5. BLS certification required and maintained thereafter.

6. ACLS (Advanced Cardiac Life Support) certification required and maintained thereafter.

7. PALS (Pediatric Advanced Life Support) required within one year of hire and maintained thereafter.

8. Oncology Nurse Society Certificate of Chemotherapy Administration within 6 months hire.

9. Must successfully complete Telemetry Competency test within 3 months of employment.

10. Ability to read, write, comprehend and communicate effectively in the English language.

11. Must be able to put into practice Service Excellence skills with our patients, families, and co-workers.

12. Ability to provide charge nurse level leadership in a positive direction that is consistent with the policies, goals, objectives, mission and vision of the Hospital and Nursing Department.
