JOB OVERVIEW: The Senior Accountant will ensure complete and systematic accounting records for the organization by performing complex clerical and bookkeeping tasks and applying accepted procedures in preparing and maintaining accounting records.

PRIMARY JOB DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES:

• Performs general accounting and other related duties for the organization.
• Maintains and posts to the general ledger.
• Prepares general accounting reports.
• Generates account analysis for use by supervisor or auditor.
• Proofs accounting reports for clerical accuracy.
• Allocates expenditures to correct accounts according to departmental procedures.
• Reconciles cash disbursement accounts, payroll, and other general ledger accounts.
• Verifies and/or completes payment of invoices associated with accounts payable and ensures payments are charged to the appropriate accounts.
• Prepares/files sales tax returns and supports other tax filings.
• Maintains knowledge of acceptable accounting practices and procedures.
• Performs other related duties as assigned.

REQUIRED SKILLS & EXPERIENCE:

• Bachelor’s degree in accounting or related field highly preferred with 5-10 years’ experience required.
• Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
• Excellent organizational skills and attention to detail.
• Knowledge of general financial accounting and cost accounting.
• Understanding of and the ability to adhere to generally accepted accounting principles.
• Proficient with Microsoft Office Suite or similar software, and accounting software.

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:

• Prolonged periods sitting at a desk and working on a computer.
• Must be able to lift up to 15 pounds at times.

Job Type: Part-time

Pay: $33.00 - $38.00 per hour
