Senior Buyer

Here we grow again! Capitol City Produce has created a new Senior Buyer, Retail position. Come support the Director of Procurement in retail segment responsibilities in this important customer-facing position that requires excellent personal relationship skills and customer service skills.

Responsibilities:

• Remain laser-focused on customers with attention to detail, a sense of urgency and quick adaptability
• Build a strong relationship with customers and promote effective, open communications
• Build strong, positive relationships with suppliers
• Maintain a 96% fill rate consistently
• Evaluate entire supply chain components including product pricing, freight, product quality, supplier reliability, and supplier innovation
• Set up new items and discontinue old items
• Maintain an awareness of market trends, packaging alternative and new products
• Minimize shrinkage/spoilage, file trouble reports, and manage problem resolution
• Prepare purchase orders and resolve discrepancies between receiving documents and invoices
• Monitor movement of all retail items including managing in-bound routes
• Communicate with vendors to find retail opportunities for ads

Requirements:

• Bachelor's degree from a four-year university preferred with an emphasis in business or equivalent 5+ years of experience as a buyer in the food distribution industry
• Three to five years of progressively responsible procurement experience in a food-related industry, preferable supporting retail supermarkets
• Proficient with Google Suites or MSOffice
• Excellent organizational skills and verbal/written communication skills
• Strong analytical and decision-making skills
• Ability to organize, prioritize and multi-task
• Able to work in a fast-paced environment and meet commitments in a timely manner
• Excellent collaboration skills and enjoys working with others
