Required Qualifications: (as evidenced by an attached resume)
Bachelor's degree. In lieu of the Bachelor's degree a combination of higher education and relevant experience totaling eight [8] full-time years may be considered. Four (4) years of directly related experience. Experience scripting and working with SQL code. Experience working with databases, designing and developing ETL processes, integrating data from external on-premise and cloud data sources, and automating these processes into a data warehouse. Experience analyzing data.
Preferred Qualifications:
Advanced degree. Experience working with relational databases such as Microsoft SQL Server, Azure, or data warehouse database design, working with Microsoft Visual Studio, SSIS packages, or similar ETL tools. Experience developing analytics and reports. Experience working with ERP systems.
Brief Description:
The Department of Information Technology is a team-oriented office that requires business analysts who can work collaboratively on institutional priorities. The Senior Systems Engineer needs to have technical expertise and functional business understanding. The incumbent will design data models, implement, test, and comprehend how to source, load, map, transform and extract data to integrate data from external on-premise or cloud systems into the data warehouse. They will be designing complex reports and analytics, and are required to understand system operations, and data analysis, verify the structure, accuracy, and quality of the data, troubleshoot to support the data warehouse, and analysis.
The Senior Systems Engineer will give presentations and train end-users about the data and how to use the system. The incumbent must be able to communicate with others effectively. In the performance of all job duties, at all times be responsible for delivering optimal customer service, protecting institutional data and privacy, and the excellent delivery of solutions and services by following divisional and University policies, procedures, and processes.
- Design, develop and support new and current ETL processes to integrate data from various data systems and automate processes to load data into the data warehouse. Design and develop transformations to build data models for analyses and to be integrated with other data models. Analyze results to ensure the data models are accurate and function for analyses. Test for quality assurance and monitor processes and performance in the loading of data models.
- Collect business requirements from business stakeholders and provide effective communication during the development process. Design and develop reporting and analytics that are appropriate to the audience and meet the specifications of the users. Analyze and provide data to respond to immediate data needs. Provide a high degree of customer support and satisfaction; engage with users on their requests and data needs; provide training and guidance regarding the understanding of data. Deploy and organize reporting content to appropriate areas.
- Oversee and monitor daily operations and performance of ETL processes; maintain security groups and users with access to the data warehouse and analytics systems and data.
- Training and documentation. Provide end-user training on the understanding of data, catalog of available reports, and how to use the data warehouse system to access and extract data.
- All other duties as assigned.

The Research Foundation of SUNY is a private educational corporation. Employment is subject to the Research Foundation policies and procedures, sponsor guidelines and the availability of funding. FLSA Exempt position, not eligible for the overtime provisions of the FLSA. Minimum salary threshold must be met to maintain FLSA exemption.
