Wavely Diagnostics is expanding access to pediatric care via a portfolio of phone-based medical diagnostics. We are at the forefront of the new digital diagnostics industry, and your work will help shape this emerging space. Our first product is an app that can detect fluid in the middle ear, reducing barriers to accurately diagnosing ear infections. We are a fast-paced, very early startup and are working towards our first commercial launch.

Wavely is looking for a mid-to-senior Signal Processing Engineer who is also familiar with machine learning and mobile programming. The candidate will join our small, agile team and be primarily responsible for signal processing algorithms, system integration on smart devices (e.g., phones), and system testing on heterogeneous hardware. The position requires strong systematic thinking and communication skills. The candidate will communicate and work with our software engineering team to deliver a robust product to market.

Key responsibilities will include:

  • Apply principles, methods, and applications of signal processing theory such as: Fourier transforms, decision and estimation theory, digital filtering, and modulation-demodulation
  • Develop advanced algorithms and collaborate with the algorithm and application development team members to ensure requirements are being met.
  • Generate test protocols and system requirement documentation
  • Provide signal processing solutions that meet and exceed customer needs.
  • Designing, developing, and testing real-time systems (signal processing algorithms) using C,C++,Swift, Kotlin and MATLAB.

Required Qualifications

  • Graduate degree in electrical engineering, computer science/engineering, signal processing, related science/engineering fields, or equivalent 5+ years of experience
  • Expert knowledge in audio signal processing
  • Experience in RADAR or ultrasonic processing
  • Experience working with data captured from microphones and associated signal processing, and acoustics.
  • Experience with hardware/integration and real-time systems
  • Strong coding skills in, mobile programming languages (e.g. C, C++, Java, Kotlin, ObjectiveC or Swift)
  • Strong data visualization and scripting ability (e.g. Python)
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills
  • Excellent problem solving abilities

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience building complex mission-critical systems that have been successfully delivered to customers at scale
  • Knowledge of engineering practices and patterns for the full /hardware/software life cycle, including coding standards, version control systems, code reviews, source management, build processes, testing and livesite operations
  • Experience with Machine Learning and its application to Audio Data
  • Experience with system-level performance optimization
  • Experience in system design and implementation, system integration, project management, and/or cross-platform software development
  • Embedded C, C++ familiarity and development experience with microcontrollers, e.g. Raspberry Pi or similar platforms

Job Type: Full-time

Pay: $125,000.00 - $175,000.00 per year
