Overview

The primary responsibilities of the staff accountant are to handle and assist in the close process as well as assist in any management requests along with internal control and auditing needs.

Essential Functions

Primary responsibilities include, but are not limited to the following:

● Maintain financial reports, records, and general ledger accounts

● Calculate and post settlement data entries for each customer closing monthly in your market

● Review/analyze job cost detail for any unpaid items; communicate with project managers on unpaid budget items to calculate reserve amounts

● Calculate and post cost of sales entry for each customer closing monthly

● Prepare and post lot purchase HUDs

● Prepare and post lot cost allocations or starts

● Review over all closed jobs each month to analyze budgeted margin versus actual margin

● Track outstanding POs and costs for settled/closed jobs

● Review and analyze all active community zero holding lots monthly for cost allocations and record adjustments if necessary

● Perform monthly balance sheet reconciliations including any bank statements

● Assist with internal control processes and auditing needs

● Meet strict processing and reporting deadlines

Qualifications

● Bachelor’s degree in accounting or finance required

● 2+ years of accounting experience

● Homebuilding experience a plus

● Excellent communication skills both written and verbal

● Highly proficient in MS Excel - including pivot tables

● Working knowledge of GAAP

● Strong analytical skills

Job Type: Full-time

Pay: $50,000.00 - $55,000.00 per year
