Peterson Industrial Group is looking for a full-time Staff Accountant. The primary purpose of this position is to direct daily accounting activities and to ensure compliance with accounting guidelines and accurately record company transactions in a timely manner. This position is a great opportunity to develop within a fast-paced growing company.

Essential Job Functions, but not limited to:

• Responsible for assisting in the preparation of the company’s financial statements.
• Oversee the activities of the accounting staff [A/P, A/R, and Payroll].
• Prepares month-end closings and distribute workload to the accounting staff as needed.
• Evaluates departmental performance and makes adjustments to daily operations when needed.
• Provides training, guidance, and direction to all employees to ensure assets are protected and transactions are recorded in an efficient, timely, and knowledgeable manner.
• Maintains fixed asset schedules.
• Confers with management about budgeting and reviewing strategies to meet overall goals and objectives.
• Maintains good corporate relations with customers, vendors, banking institutions, auditors, owners, and other affiliates.
• Works directly with external auditors.
• Ensures compliance with all regulating agencies and manages compliance audits.

Skills and Abilities:

• Knowledge of Generally Accepted Accounting Principles
• Knowledge of computer-based spreadsheets and reporting
• Knowledge of general office practices and procedures
• Skill in written communications
• Skill in operating various office equipment
• Must be able to prioritize work to meet scheduled deadlines while handling multiple tasks
• Must have excellent accounting skills, strong organization and communication skills
• Ability to function as a team player
• Ability to function in a leadership role

Education and Experience:

• Bachelor’s/Associates in Accounting is required.
• Minimum 2 – 4 years of accounting experience
