AWL is looking for a Strategic Communications Consultant to primarily support an internal communications team on one of our key accounts at a federal agency. The ideal candidate is a strong writer and editor with the ability to prioritize and manage deadlines and assignments. Minimum 7 years of relevant work experience required; combination of advanced certifications/experience is acceptable. This position is currently a combination of telework and onsite work with an onsite requirement of one day per week (Mondays) in Washington, DC.

Responsibilities

  • Write and edit deliverables including, but not limited to, talking points, reports, slide decks, executive emails and newsletters, etc.
  • Serve as day-to-day communications representative to client teams and manage and execute plans.
  • Develop strategic communications approaches, plans, processes, deliverables, templates, and tools for a variety of stakeholders in a fast-paced environment.
  • Support key client accounts in daily activities while contributing to the various contracting processes, account requirements, client management, business development and other account/company functions as specified by supervisors.
  • Understand key client information including environment, strategy, deliverables and services, branding, competitors, etc.
  • Conduct research, outline, write, edit and proofread materials, and assist with research including industry trends and innovations.
  • Exhibit and utilize exceptional communication and organizational skills in supporting multiple accounts and tight timelines.
  • Demonstrate AWL values in every interaction: honesty, humor, inclusion, service, goodness, and tenacity.

Qualifications

  • Minimum 7 years of relevant work experience required; work experience in management consulting, federal consulting, strategic communications, project management/ support and/or organizational change a bonus but not required. Combination of advanced certifications/experience is acceptable.
  • Outstanding writing and overall communication skills. Applicants will be asked to provide a writing sample.
  • Candidates should demonstrate excellent interpersonal and communication skills along with the ability to work effectively with a variety of team members, partners, clients, etc.
  • Experience engaging with C-Suite executives on a variety of strategic communications campaigns and programs.
  • Strong work ethic and dedication to consistently provide quality work to their team and clients, ability to multitask with strong attention to detail, organization, and time management.
  • Strong knowledge and demonstrated effective use of Excel, PowerPoint, Office365, Microsoft Teams and SharePoint is required.
  • Content development and management, social media and digital skills, knowledge of MS Office, Canva, HootSuite, knowledge of or interest in learning CRM tools (a plus)
  • The ability to apply for and receive a Public Trust Clearance (fingerprinting and background check required)

This position is currently a combination of telework and onsite work serving the Department of Veterans Affairs in Washington, DC. The onsite requirement is currently one day per week (Mondays).

Job Type: Full-time

Pay: $75,000.00 - $95,000.00 per year
