We are looking for someone with these qualities who also has survey field experience to fill our seasonal Survey Crew Chief position. This position performs services in the field and office requiring specialized technical abilities in the preparation of plans and operation of a survey crew tasked with various municipal construction activities. This position is responsible for employing checks to maintain a high degree of accuracy and detecting/relating any potential construction issues to the City Surveyor. Duties include, but are not limited to: operating various types of surveying equipment such as Robotic Total Station, GPS, levels, and data-collection equipment; performing technical survey duties; documenting and maintaining daily survey notes and construction logs; and keeping legible permanent records and survey data necessary for the design, layout, construction, and measurement of municipal construction projects.
Candidates must have an Associate’s Degree in a related field and 1 year of survey field experience or an equivalent combination of education and/or experience; possess and maintain a valid Wisconsin driver’s license; be able to read and interpret construction plans; perform technical mathematical computations related to survey and design problems; process field points from self and other surveyors into a CAD file; have knowledge of surveying methods and procedures; and be able to work with minimal supervision.
Wage Rate: $24.08 per hour. Hours: 7:00 AM – 3:30 PM, with overtime as required. Typical duration of the position is April to approximately Mid-December.
