Job Title: Technical Product Manager – Simulations

FLSA Status: Exempt

Department: Digital Products

Reports to: Sr. Director, Digital Products – LTI

GENERAL DESCRIPTION / PURPOSE:
The Technical Product Manager – Simulations, will partner heavily with all the key stakeholder functions including product, delivery, data science, engineering, business development, and partnerships. This role is responsible for developing product requirements, supporting the management of cross-functional engineering efforts, performing analyses, and synthesizing insights to accelerate the development and commercialization of simulation-based products.

ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS:
Strategic and Functional

Build and lead a team of simulation engineers and core area specialists to deliver state-of-the-art physics-based simulation software products.

Support management of simulation software product development involving large amounts of data, physics-based modeling, machine learning, design, prototyping, and customer feedback.

Translate business needs into requirements for a technical audience, including creating user stories, synthesizing use cases, defining acceptance criteria, and documenting feature overviews.

Perform data-driven analyses and develop recommendations to guide decision-making.

Coordinate and assist in the testing of new products and features.

Customer Interaction/Management/Support

Participate in and support interactions with clients to collect business requirements and drive product adoption.

Help develop external communication material by translating and summarizing technical information for business audiences and developing key messaging.

Leadership and Talent Development

Mentor and work across an interdisciplinary team to prioritize and coordinate tasks, monitor progress, help resolve issues, and facilitate team meetings.

REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS:
Education: Masters or Ph.D. degree in Contact Mechanics, Multibody Dynamics, Tribology, or Related Field with a strong understanding of physics-based simulation software and techniques.

Experience: 5+ years of experience in Product Management and leading teams of widely varying skills and levels. Strong analytical skills: ability to use data and metrics to back up assumptions, and recommendations, and drive business decisions. Strengths in problem-solving, and issue resolution with a demonstrated ability to manage multiple priorities in an agile development environment.

  • 14+ years or equivalent combination of education and experience
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:
Licenses/Certifications:
Professional Engineering

Licenses/Certifications: Maintain railroad safety training and certifications, AREMA/IEEE/ASME, FRA/DOT

Flex Work Eligible: This position qualifies for the Flexible Work Policy. Employees receive 50 work days annually to work remotely. The initial number of days is prorated for the first year based on the start date.
