Description of Job:

The Accounting Manager coordinates the month-end and year-end close process. Manages accounting of inventory including standard cost system and required valuation related reserves (E&O, FIFO). Responsible for the accounting of Fixed Assets. Assist in the preparation and distribution of Financial Statement Packet. Supervise Staff Accountant.

Essential Duties & Responsibilities:

  • Manage/coordinate the month-end close process
  • Assist in the preparation of the financial statements, including budgets & forecasts
  • Prepare and record monthly journal entries and completes monthly balance sheet account reconciliations.
  • Ensure compliance with generally accepted accounting principles (GAAP) for financial statement preparation and audit purposes.
  • Manage the accounting for inventory. Maintain the standard cost system, report on operating variances from standard, establish the FIFO & E&O reserves and reconcile the book to perpetual inventory values. Work with Material and Inventory Control Manager to perform formal time studies as required.
  • Assist in maintaining all accounting files and records for multiple Companies/Subsidiaries.
  • Monitor monthly inventory transactions for accuracy and appropriateness and report on operating variances from established standards for material, labor and overhead.
  • Responsible to ensure proper delegation of duties and internal control exist within the Accounting & Finance Dept.
  • Manage the Fixed Asset Accounting System (SAGE/FAS). Maintain and implement required internal controls to safeguard the company’s fixed assets. Coordinate the Capital Expenditure Authorization procedure.
  • Maintain General Ledger Chart of Accounts.
  • Manage the year-end closing process. Assist in the planning of the annual physical inventory, calculate the physical to book adjustment and coordinate the year-end audit with the outside accounting firm.
  • Work with CFO and other team members to develop a Customer and Product Profitability Reporting System
  • Ensure there are sufficient accruals for all customer selling programs – rebate, co-op advertising etc.
  • Work closely with Operations Team to monitor and report on Shop-Floor Control and Reporting. Specifically creating work center productivity reports and monthly reviews with the Plant Manager & broader Operations Team.
  • Manage the company’s credit card program
  • Manage Licensee/Royalty accounting – calculate monthly expense and prepare the quarterly royalty report.
  • Manage the online T&E Program (Concur) including report writing and ensure proper coding of expenses.
  • Manage the company owned vehicles - insurance, plates, registrations etc.
  • Responsible for SALT – State & Local Tax Accounting – including filing monthly sales & use tax returns and quarterly CAT Tax Returns.
  • Manage the vendor compliance responsibilities – new vendor packet, collecting W9’s, insurance certificates, 1099’s filing and reporting unclaimed funds.
  • Perform Financial Analysis on company operations and for special projects.

Education & Experience:

  • Education: Bachelor Degree in Accounting, CPA & MBA preferred
  • Minimum 2-3 years of cost accounting experience within a manufacturing company
  • Minimum of five (5) years of experience as Accounting Manager

Job Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:

  • Knowledgeable of Generally Accepted Accounting Principals
  • Proficient & knowledgeable in consolidating legal entities and performing intercompany eliminations
  • Expert in inventory valuation methodologies and related inventory controls
  • Proficient in performing financial analysis
  • Attention to detail, proven analytical and problem solving abilities
  • Good written and verbal communication skills
  • Strong customer service orientation, team oriented and highly self-motivated.
  • Must be proficient in MS Office software – Word & Excel
  • Ability to multi-task and establish priorities

Pay: $95,000.00 - $125,000.00 per year
