School-age Camp Leader - Part-Time

The Elk Grove Kids Camp Leader will report directly to the Program Director.

Elk Grove Kids Camp, formally known as Sunshine Summer Camp, is a licensed center offering care for kids' kindergarten through 6th grade while they are on school break.

Camp is held Monday-Friday from 8:00am-5:00pm all year round.

Elk Grove Kids Camp is not a traditional childcare but a school-break camp. Providing opportunities for kids to experience new and different things; enriching their lives and expanding their minds.

Kids will enjoy an ever-changing host of activities from science and art to group games and creative play. There will be a walking field trip every day to local parks and nature areas as well as open swim time at the Sunshine Swim Center pool.

Elk Grove Kids Camp is looking for a Teacher/Leader to assist in managing our school-age camp program. The Teacher should be a strong leader, show patience, have good communication, and organizational skills but most importantly have a fun, caring and outgoing personality. Ideally, this individual is well-rounded with experiences and interests such as; dance, drama, art, fitness and sports, history and/or language and travel, animals...we are nurturing and enriching little minds.

Elk Grove Kids Camp Teacher/Leader Responsibilities:

• Responsible for assisting the Director in the day-to-day operation of the center, for compliance with regulations provided under the California Code of Child Care Regulations and Requirements.
• Implement lesson plans for daily activities based on weekly themes
• Prepare necessary supplies for activities
• Organize, prepare and lead high-quality recreational opportunities and enjoyable experiences for camp participants
• Maintain a schedule for campers
• Responsible for ensuring payment is received for all campers before the start of the camp week; in the absence of the Director.
• Record attendance for campers
• Manage Elk Grove Kids Camp Staff; communicate work schedules, activity plans, break schedules, tasks and responsibilities; in the absence of the Director
• Provide communication through email, phone, or in-person to parents of campers regarding schedule or needs.
• Responsible for contacting parents regarding behavior, injuries or other concerns of campers.
• Ensure the cleanliness of the site.
• Know and understand all emergency procedures associated with the camp program.
• Mediate any campers’ disputes.
• Know, enforce, and follow all safety guidelines associated with the camp program, including knowing the whereabouts of your charges at all times.
• Be the main lifeguard on deck for the camp participants every day of camp. Must be able to pass lifeguard certification process.

Education and Certification Requirements: (must have one of the following Educational Requirements to qualify)

• Children’s Center Permit and at least 6 months teaching experience in a licensed child care center or comparable group child care program.
• An Associate of Arts degree from an accredited or approved college or university with a major or emphasis in early childhood education or child development; and at least 6 months teaching experience in a licensed child care center or comparable group child care program.
• Regional Occupational Program Certificate emphasis, child development, and at least 6 months teaching experience in a licensed child care center or comparable group child care program.
• Coursework only (12 ECE units) and a minimum of 6 months teaching experience in a licensed child care center or comparable group child care program.
• 16 hours of health and safety training; Pediatric CPR, First Aid and AED training and Nutrition (to be completed within 90 days of hire)
• Lifeguard certification and Mandated Reporter Training (to be completed within 90 days of hire)
• Criminal Record Clearance
• Health Screening, TB and Immunization Records

Hourly Wage: $17.00-$18.00

Work Schedule: Monday - Friday 12:30pm - 5:30pm

Year Round program. Must be able to work full schedule
