Basic Purpose

Develop technical solutions for data acquisition, data integration, and data sharing in translating Navy Federal's business vision and strategies into effective IT and business capabilities through the design, implementation, and integration of IT systems utilizing On-prem systems and Microsoft Azure. The Data Engineer will be responsible for guiding the design, development, of Navy Federal’s Data with a specific focus on Azure Data Factory, and ADLS pipelines to support Next Best Interaction Marketing systems capabilities and on integrating data from internal IT systems, other external source, and applications into, Data Lake and Microsoft SQL Server. Recognized as an expert with a specialized depth and/or breadth of expertise in discipline. Solves highly complex problems; takes a broad perspective to identify solutions.

Responsibilities

  • Design and implement data frameworks and pipelines to process data from on-premises and cloud data sources to feed into the Azure Data storages, monitor data quality and implement related controls
  • Technical leadership and knowledge to provide technical guidance and educate team members and coworkers on development and operations
  • Evaluate existing designs, improve methods, and implement optimizations
  • Document best practices for data models, data loads, query performance and enforce with team members
  • Implement integration plans and interface with testing teams to incorporate plans into the integration testing process
  • Ensure the security and integrity of solutions including compliance with Navy Federal, industry engineering and Information Security principles and practices
  • Analyze and validate data sharing requirements within and outside data partners
  • Provide forward thinking technical expertise in current and emerging technologies, trends, and practices
  • Perform other duties as assigned

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in Information Systems, Computer Science, Engineering, or related field, or the equivalent combination of education, training, and experience
  • Hands-on experience creating automated data pipelines using modern technology stacks for batch ETL, and for data processing to load advanced analytics data repositories
  • Hands-on experience with Teradata platform and data warehousing
  • Proficient in designing and implementing data integration processes in a large, distributed environment using cloud services e.g., Azure Event Hub, Data Factory, Data Catalog, and Databricks
  • Experience in designing data lake storage structures, data acquisition, transformation, and distribution processing
  • Advance level skills in Databricks, Azure Data Factory
  • Hands-on experience in working with Big Data technologies (e.g., Spark, Hadoop, etc.)
  • Hands-on experience in programming languages (Python, Java, SQL, etc.) and REST APIs (MuleSoft or similar) to process data
  • Experience with processing various file types in Data Lake (Delta, Parquet or similar)
  • Hands-on experienced in the use of ETL tools and techniques and have knowledge of CI/CD
  • Very good understanding of SQL (Advanced level)
  • Ability to understand other projects or functional areas to consolidate analytical needs and processes
  • Demonstrates change management and/or excellent communication skills

Navy Federal is now hybrid! Our standard enterprise requirement for a hybrid schedule is to report on-site 4-16 days each month. The number of days reporting on-site will ultimately be determined by the employee's leadership and business unit needs. You will learn more throughout the hiring and on boarding process.

Salary Range: $87,800 - $160,900 annually

Navy Federal Credit Union assesses market data to establish salary ranges that enable us to remain competitive. You are paid within the salary range, based on your experience, location and market position.
