Position Title: Manufacturing Engineer

Hrs/wk: 25-35 hrs/wk (flexible)

Compensation: $42.42 to $51.44 /hr (starting)

Workplace Location: 50% Remote (Max) / 50% On-site (Min)

In general, this position was created to further Avail Creative’s service offerings to our clients, and your role will complement existing related staff talents such as Industrial Design and Mechanical Engineering. We design and develop many kinds of manufactured products in many industries. Projects range from a simple single component to a highly engineered assembly.

Due to the phases of client projects being staggered, you will need to stay flexible in your duties, as different projects have different needs at varying times. Duties include but are not limited to: advising designers on production feasibility of their parts, assisting designers with development and testing of prototypes, researching and becoming a subject matter expert on many manufacturing techniques and part materials (metal alloys, plastics, foams, rubbers, etc), producing thorough technical drawings of all parts and assemblies to be used for production and assembly, creating and maintaining Bill of Material (BOM) lists for assembly part tracking purposes, and determining ways to optimize/lower manufacturing costs for clients. Once the company transitions to proprietary product development, you will have similar roles directed internally to Avail Creative products.

There are plans to hire additional engineering-related staff within 1 year. Title is negotiable for something comparable if you prefer (Mechanical Engineer, Senior Engineer, etc).

Required Competencies:

-High proficiency with the use of technology (computer, phone, software, etc).

-Ability to give full attention to what others are saying and ask questions as needed.

-Adept at taking notes & maintaining personal to-do lists.

-Ability to communicate effectively, comfortably, and often with internal and external teams.

-Reasonable management of your own time and the time of others.

-Ability to research details about manufacturing techniques, DFM methods, and materials.

Preferred Competencies:

-A courteous and positive attitude.

-Communication that is clear, concise, and effective (verbal & over digital/email).

-Existing Proficiency with Solidworks CAD modeling

Preferred Educational Experience:

4 year degree or better in Manufacturing Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, or similar is strongly preferred.

Preferred Work Experience:

5+ years of relevant experience in industry is preferred.
