We are based in New Jersey, but the vast majority of our work is in New York City. Our niche is hospitality - primarily restaurants, although we aslo do boutique hotels and high end individual residences. You'll be part of a small team of desginers and will work closely with our owner.

THE ROLE

The Project Designer/ Architect will be responsible for designing a project from schematic design, and manage it throughout construction. They will be involved in all aspects of the design, construction documentation, bidding, and construction administration processes. They will assist in project development, managing/ coordinating with the build team. The candidate overall will be a jack of all trades to some extent with design, software, construction, millwork, lighting, MEP systems, etc.

RESPONSIBILITIES

• Perform detailed, thorough site measurements and create accurate existing conditions.
• Ability to read drawings, specifications, scopes, schedules and related documentation to have full understanding of the project
• Designing and reviewing project extent, ensuring all required items are included for entire scope of work
• Manage time to handle multiple project drawings, FF&E selection, requests, client communications, and schedule.
• Establish/ maintain relationships with all vendors and subcontractors.
• Solicit estimates from vendors and subcontractors. Review estimates for accuracy and appropriate pricing.
• Maintain project records, including but not limited to: client submissions/ approvals, building department submittals, vendor quotes, material/ equipment specifications , Consultant drawings/ submittals/ schedules
• Assist Principal with project management, subcontractor management, project budgets/ schedules
• Support construction foremen in the field, including any/all construction questions, and assist with procurement of materials.
• Provide detailed millwork drawings for in-house millwork fabrication team.
• Maintain professional relationships with colleagues, contractors, subs, vendors, architects, engineers
• Contribute to overall design team to facilitate successful implementation of project building plans/ design intent.

EXPERIENCE AND QUALIFICATIONS

• 5-7 years of experience of overall design, CD production/ detailing, and project management
• Bachelor’s Degree in Architecture or Interior Design
• Knowledge of principles and practices of construction
• Experience in Architecture, Interior Design, or Design-Build preferred
• Ability to read and interpret technical drawings, CDs, and specifications
• Experience with commercial and high-end residential construction
• Knowledge of ADA and local building codes
• Ability to measure existing spaces and create accurate/ detailed existing condition drawings.
• Excellent administrative skills, organized, detail-oriented, file management
• Excellent interpersonal and communication skills, both oral and written, including an ability to build relationships with clients, contractors, staff and other collaborators.
• Able to work independently, prioritize tasks, and meet deadlines
• Strong understanding of building systems
• Project coordination/management experience
• Graphic Design experience a plus, but not required.
• Licensure not required.

Pay: $70,621.00 - $115,637.00 per year
