CORESIGHT RESEARCH:
The Coresight Research team is a think tank follows emerging retail and technology trends, specializing in the ways they intersect. The team, led by Deborah Weinswig, an award-winning retail and technology analyst, delivers cutting-edge research on topics such as the evolving retail landscape, changing consumer behavior, disruptive retail technologies, and the future of supply chains in sectors such as apparel, beauty, grocery, and furniture. Coresight Research is headquartered in New York, with offices in London, Hong Kong, Lagos, Mangalore, and Shanghai.

POSITION OVERVIEW:
We are looking for an Analyst who will conduct research, analysis, and writing to the highest standards, with a focus on a particular sector and/or theme. In addition to this specialism, the analyst may be required to cover retail and consumer trends and developments more broadly. The successful candidate's experience will determine if they are referred to as an Associate or an Analyst.

Responsibilities:
Candidates will:

• Devise and write research reports, presentations, data sets, and other content (a) for publication on coresight.com, (b) on behalf of clients, and (c) for colleagues within Coresight.
• Research subjects include thematic research, analysis of retail sectors, company financial results, analysis of sourcing and supply chains, research on consumer-product markets, trends in retail and technology, and custom and ad-hoc queries.
• Contribute ideas for new research projects and publications to be undertaken personally, by the local team, or by the broader Coresight team.
• Develop a strong base of industry knowledge.
• Stay on top of industry news and emerging trends, in order to identify topical subjects to research.
• Build on existing knowledge to become an industry specialist in the sector noted above, with a strong emphasis on understanding companies in this space.
• Mentor research executives and interns, including reviewing the output of junior colleagues and acting as a point of contact on issues such as industry knowledge, financial research, and general research methodologies.
• The Research Analyst may be required to cover retail and consumer trends and developments more generally; coverage may evolve to include adjacent or alternative companies or sectors.
• Represent the Coresight team at industry events and conferences.

Qualifications, skills, and experience required:

• A BA/BS in Business, Mathematics, Finance, or other quantitative discipline. MBA or CFA would be an advantage.
• Experience of undertaking research and analysis on the retail sector.
• Solid knowledge of companies, trends, themes, and market performance in a particular sector.
• Willingness to undertake research on companies and trends beyond this specialism.
• Demonstrated strong writing and verbal communication and analytical skills. The ability to draft publication-quality research reports that enhance readers’ understanding of a sector or theme. Demonstrated ability to build a strong thesis and support it with appropriate arguments/data.
• Experience in primary and secondary research, such as: experience in interrogating and analyzing company financial data, consumer data, and third-party database metrics (such as on retail traffic or sales data); ability to undertake thorough secondary research; ability to integrate and manipulate data to create insights and generate new data points.
• First-hand industry experience in sectors such as retail, technology, or real estate would be an advantage.
• Strong time-management skills, with experience of delivering projects to schedule.
• Scrupulous attention to detail, including in presentation of research and in researching and analyzing data.
• Experience using Excel, Word and PowerPoint. Knowledge of other computer applications and databases would be an advantage.
• Ability to work independently (including remotely) and under pressure.
• Ability to work with team members located in different time zones and globally.
• Willingness to travel.
