Primary Responsibilities:

The candidate will be part of an Integrated Product Team (IPT) in support of the software development and maintenance of the Core Level Software and Transport Services Segment used on the Mission Computer Alternative (MCA) system. The candidate should have a thorough understanding of software development practices: configuration management, code reviews, unit testing, and continuous integration with at least 5 years of C++ programming experience. The candidate will also develop software to perform IV&V tests on FACE conformant applications on various hardware configurations and be familiar with implementing software practices for DO-178C DAL A compliance. The candidate must be a self-starter willing to work with, lead, customers, and train junior engineers, ESDPs, and interns.

The Core Avionics Multi-Use Laboratory Environment (MULE) intends to fill a software engineering position supporting the Avionics Engineering Department and Mission Systems Group of NAWCAD. The position is responsible for providing authoritative inputs and software development on all systems software engineering and technical issues, ensure systems software requirements are met through the use of compatible process standards and engineering process for assigned avionics and weapons systems.

Required Education: Bachelor's Degree from an accredited college or university.

Experience: 10+ years’ experience in an Engineering/Science Field (Senior)

Required experience/knowledge:

• 6 years of Naval Aviation Avionics Embedded System experience
• 5 years of experience with C/C++, python

Desired experience:

• Experience using a variety of integrated development environment (IDE) and test environments (Visual Studio, Qt, Eclipse, etc.)
• Embedded systems software development (avionics preferred)
• Experience with safety-critical Real-Time Operating Systems (RTOS) required (VX Works preferred)
• Graphical User Interface (GUI) development experience (Qt preferred and avionics/ARINC 661 experience preferred)
• Secure code experience (DO-178 and MIL-STD-882 preferred)
• Digital engineering experience
• Modular Open Systems Approach (MOSA) standards experience (FACE/ HOST/SOSA/OMS/VICTORY/RedHawk)
