Mechanical Engineer- Saline, MI

General Overview:

Steadily growing custom Plastics Machinery designer and manufacturer seeks an experienced and motivated Mechanical Engineer to join our team. The right candidate will desire to be part of a growing company with a spirit of teamwork and cooperation.

Duties/Essential Job Functions:

• Perform engineering duties in planning, designing, and drawing plastics machinery, and mechanical components. assemblies, and parts.
• Create and revise machine assembly drawings from previous drawings, discussions, sketches, or concept drawings using AutoCAD and Solidworks.
• Possess skills/knowledge of blow molding and extruder system designs and functionality to have technical competency in markets the company participates in.
• Apply quantifiable engineering principles to mechanical, fluid, and software systems.
• Plan, execute, and finalize engineering projects according to deadlines and budget, complying with current governmental and safety regulations.
• Identify materials and manufacturing processes to ensure proper materials are being utilized with proper cost-effectiveness.
• Effectively communicate project status to team members promptly and clearly.
• Create Bills of Material and Parts Lists in Solidworks for all jobs.
• Participate in mechanical operation inspections and testing of machinery.
• Work with other departments to address customer equipment design issues, troubleshooting, product development, and new sales opportunities.
• Participate in the preparation of detailed machine operation manuals.
• Assist in the making of drawings or technical illustrations for sales quotations.
• Occasionally participate in customer visits to conduct technical presentations and product demonstrations when needed.

Minimum Qualifications:

• Bachelor’s degree in mechanical engineering and/or related education/experience.
• 5 years of relevant work experience in Mechanical Engineering; ideally in the extrusion or blow molding industry.
• Solid experience with CAD design software, Solidworks, AutoCAD, and Microsoft Office Suite.
• Knowledge of information technology systems and their applications in manufacturing shop floor control environments and plastic blow molding & extrusion environments.
• Excellent communication skills (verbal, written, interpersonal, and presentation) with the ability to work with all levels within the organization as well as our customers.
• Strong problem-solving skills with good business judgment and decision-making abilities.
• Self-directed, and organized, with strong time management and multi-tasking skills to meet deadlines.

Job Types: Full-time, Permanent

Pay: $85,000.00 - $115,000.00 per year
