Bobtail LP Delivery Driver/Tech

SUMMARY
Responsible for delivering propane from Wildhorse Propane’s storage tanks to residential/commercial customers onsite propane tanks. Drivers represent our company in the field by providing customer service and maintaining a professional image.

PRINCIPAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

• Operate various types of delivery trucks and vehicles safely and efficiently. Operate other kinds of equipment such as boom trucks, as required.
• Satisfy customer as number one goal. Be alert to customer needs and problems and try to resolve them. Advise supervisor of all customer service activities.
• Report any new competitor products, customers, or marketing strategies you see to your supervisor and acquire or refer new accounts to Wildhorse Propane.
• Maintain high standards of courtesy and respect for all customers and fellow employees.
• Develop professional relationship with customers.
• Maintain high company image standards for self and vehicle. Personal appearance must be neat and well groomed. Uniforms must be clean. Trucks must be kept clean and neat both inside and outside.
• Arrange for routine truck maintenance and repair with supervisor in accordance with service intervals specified in the operations manual. Perform minor maintenance functions as required.
• Prepare customer invoices, cargo documents, and other paperwork completely, accurately, and legibly to assure product quality.
• Have a basic understanding of propane service work, and perform housekeeping, freight receiving, warehouse stocking, and other functions as required in support of all company departments.
• Schedule paid and unpaid time off with your supervisor well in advance.

SKILLS AND QUALIFICATIONS REQUIRED

• Current CDL or ability to obtain with hazardous material/tanker/airbrake endorsements
• Must pass a drug test, reference check, background check, and motor vehicle records check before hire when driving hazardous materials.
• Must have basic knowledge of and comply with all D.O.T. industry and company safety regulations.
• Must have the ability to read and analyze general business periodicals, professional journals, technical procedures and government rules and regulations.
• Must have the ability to calculate figures and amounts such as discounts, interest, commissions, proportions, percentages, and volume.
• Must have the ability to solve practical problems and deal with a variety of concrete variables in situations where only limited standardization exists.

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS

• Good communication and organizational skills
• Knowledge and experience in the propane industry
• Experience and understanding of propane bobtail delivery system
• Effective customer service skills
• Computer experience
• Propane service/repair experience

PHYSICAL DEMANDS

Ability to:

• Work under pressure
• Pull hose over adverse ground conditions.
• Work in adverse weather conditions (cold, hot, wet etc.)
• Lift up to 100 lbs.
• Sit & drive a Bobtail Propane Truck
• Operate a manual transmission, either a straight 6-speed or 9-speed
• Climb in/out of a truck cab ascending or descending 2 steps
• Complete up to 25 routes per shift
• Drag, hook, & unhook a 1 ½ -diameter hose of 150’ to a customer’s propane tank
• Perform bilateral & single reaching wrist rotation & fine dexterity to steer the truck, engage controls to dispense propane & handle hoses
• Stand & walk up to 10 minutes during a delivery at a customer’s residence
• Perform routine maintenance on tanks, i.e. paint, etc.
• Uncoil & recoil propane hose from truck, pulling hose over shoulder & able to reload truck from storage

REGULAR WORK SCHEDULE

• Normal business hours Monday to Friday
• Ability to be on call evenings and weekends
• Additional hours as required to meet customer needs

REQUIRED EDUCATION

• High school or equivalent

REQUIRED LICENSE/CERTIFICATION

• Current CDL or ability to obtain with tsa/hazardous material/tanker/airbrake endorsements

Job Type: Full-time

Pay: $20.00 - $27.00 per hour
