Elinor Coatings creates solutions for corrosion, degradation, and fouling through research in surface protection. This role will join a team of researchers in developing new formulations of protective and anti-corrosion coatings for metals. Support long-term federal research contracts in aerospace and ground vehicle support.

Primary Responsibilities

• Conduct protective coating formulation, testing, and corrosion evaluation for customer trials and R&D projects
• Perform root cause analysis, troubleshoot issues, and manage multiple projects to meet deadlines
• Generate, document, and report data and technical progress to internal and external stakeholders
• Manage cross-functional relationships and collaborate with managers, chemists, research assistants and senior leaders on strategic assessments, evaluations, scale-ups and research
• Actively contribute and participate in customer support, scientific group meetings and discussions
• Draft and revise SOPs and controlled documents
• Maintain a safe and clean lab environment consistent with existing Elinor Safety Office protocols
• Other duties as assigned

Qualifications

Minimum Education/Experience

• M.S. or PhD in polymers and coatings, chemistry, or closely related fields
• 3+ years of experience in a laboratory environment
• Demonstrated experience with: o Coatings formulations, characterization, and testing o Corrosion protection, corrosion inhibition and electrochemical testing o Common coatings laboratory instrumentation o Word processing, spreadsheets, scheduling, and data analysis software o Supervising research teams with diverse backgrounds o Communication and writing skills to enable working with multi-disciplinary groups of individuals o Setting priorities and respond to changing needs from multiple sources
